Meet Amy Crews Award winning artist, AMY CREWS, says she is fulfilling her childhood dream. Growing up in Atlanta, Georgia she cultivated her talents and now enjoys art as a means to staying at home with her children. Recent honors include works selected for HGTV’s 2006 Dream Home as well as being a featured artist, sold nationally, in the catalogs of Southern Living At HOME. She was one of ten Alabama artists chosen to paint a six-foot fiberglass catfish statue as part of the “Big Fish” Gadsden Reads campaign hosted by the Hardin Center for Cultural Arts and her piece, titled “Cahaba Lily”, was one of five recipients of a purchase award from the Energen Corporation where it will remain part of their permanent Alabama artist collection. Nature is a common theme in Amy’s work. She works from her own photography or from still-life arrangements in her studio. Oil is her preferred medium. She also works in graphite, creating home portraits and custom stationary for patrons. Amy and her husband Matt live in Alabama with their two children.
