Meet Lenore Barnett, NOAPS, CPSA
Exciting color is probably the most unifying element of LENORE BARNETT’S varied subject matter. "I’m highly motivated by strong, dramatic contrasts in color, composition or atmosphere," says Lenore "and most often find what I want to express in an intimate viewpoint. I am a frequent traveler and many of my works reflect my appreciation for the differences apparent not only abroad but also across the wide reaches of the U.S."
Lenore normally paints en plein air, and finds the richness of oil the most satisfying medium for the landscapes she loves to paint. "When possible," explains Lenore, "I like to include a hint of man’s effect on the environment. All of my works result from the emotional thrill I get from visual beauty, and my need to interpret it with brush or palette knife. My style is generally representational, with forays into impressionism when the subject particularly asks for it."
Originally from New York, Lenore is a Hendersonville resident who has consistently been juried into many national shows and won several awards, such as from the Art League of Henderson County 2006 Best of Show, Hendersonville, North Carolina. Recently she was accepted into the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society Best of America 2007 show and into the 2007 Eastern Regional Oil Painters of America exhibit, to be held at the Weatherburn Gallery, Naples, Florida. In addition, Lenore’s work has been accepted into the Fine Art Center 2007 Juried Exhibit, Highlands, North Carolina. She will also be included in the WICKWIRE fine art/folk art annual juried competition.
Lenore derives inspiration from ongoing workshops with such well-known artists as Charles Sovek, Skip Lawrence and Ned Mueller, as well as from constant study of the works and writings of such additional contemporary painters as Richard Schmid, Ted Goerschner and Paul Strisik. Lenore Barnett is proudly represented by WICKWIRE fine art/folk art in Hendersonville, North Carolina.
