Meet Laura Duis ~

"... fun-tastical color, happy adventures to make you smile!"

LAURA DUIS has had a love of making art all her life. Her earliest inspiration came from watching her mother create . . . someone who was not a trained artist, but who through her sketches and crafts created a desire in her daughter to see what one could conjure up out of simple materials.
Her lifelong interest in art includes a B. S. in art education from Bowling Green State University, graduating from The School of Advertising Art in Dayton, Ohio, and studying with numerous instructors in colored pencil, watercolor, oils and printmaking. Throughout her working life Laura has gleaned her art experiences in a variety of places -from small screen-printing shops to a top commercial design studio. She has been a designer and illustrator, creating images for bumper stickers and glossy Sunday supplements. Working for the past several years as a fine artist, Laura sells her paintings in galleries throughout the state, and has won recognition locally and nationally.


Laura’s interest in the bold images of graphic design and illustration are evident in her pieces. She now conjures up her artwork mainly in acrylic. Her inspiration comes from the everyday scenes and objects that have been and continue to be important in her life. Be it an historic house, pouncing pet, or stalks of sunflowers - bold lines, vivid palettes and colorful shadows comprise her works.

Laura paints full-time in her home studio with the encouragement and support of her husband and under the watchful eye of two feline art critics.
