Meet Tana Acton
Born in Birmingham, Michigan to Cranbrook School of Art students, TANA ACTION (like her parents) focuses her life on creative expression. She first studied silversmithing with Glenda Arentzen (’71) and later with Japanese goldsmith Tomaso (’76). Metalwork eventually became her destination.
Over the years, Tana has explored modern dance/choreography/painting (Antioch college, BFA) and costume/artwear/fashion design (Parsons School of Design) culminating in a unique perspective on the art of jewelry. Movement, air and light are used to create pieces that are delicate yet solid, organic yet sharply contemporary.
Utilizing textile techniques in metal, Tana’s pieces embody intriguingly complex construction within simple forms. Currently showing in over 45 galleries nationally and in Japan, her “classic-with-a-twist” jewelry sustains the interest of individuals and collectors alike.
