Meet Pat Buhrke

PAT BUHRKE comes from the suburbs of Chicago. He graduated from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois with a degree from the School of Engineering and Technology. The family business of tool and die and metal stamping was sold and he decided to pursue his passion of handcrafting fine rustic furnishings.

Pat Buhrke is completely self-taught and looks upon his ability to create artistic pieces, which are not only visually appealing but highly well-made and functional, to the valued influences from his youth.  He strives to utilize natural materials that are indigenous to Western North Carolina and since 1998, he has created a broad range of handcrafted furnishings from chandeliers to dining room tables.  Says Buhrke, "My work is a blend of artistry and sound wood working methods.  It is a goal to make unique pieces handcrafted to specifications (if need be) and to utilize wooden pegs for joining purposes always striving to conceal modern fasteners.  Nine of my rustic pieces were used (and seen!) in the lodge on the set of Warner Brothers, Wilmington, NC television series production One Tree Hill.”

Buhrke is a member of The Southern Highland Craft Guild.  He resides in Hendersonville with his wife Mary Kay.
